Get Out on the Green with the Sartell 9th Annual Golf Classic

With hockey season over, it’s time put away the hockey sticks and pull out the trusty nine iron just in time for the Sartell 9th Annual Golf Classic. Taking place just north of St. Cloud at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course on June 28th, the event will include a shotgun start at 11 a.m. and a social at the Blue Line Sports Bar and Grill in Sartell, dinner, and prizes. You can still register for the event up to June 21.

As if you needed more reasons to sign up for the tournament, here are five excellent reasons that golf is the perfect sport.

1 Golf keeps you healthy and fit. It helps revitalize muscular flexibility and strengthens your bone health and circulation. Long walks on your feet (not casual drives on the golf cart) around an expansive course will get the fresh air coursing through your lungs. Fishing a ball out of the deep end of a pond can only help as well, Though not recommended.

2 Golf is a social game- avid athlete or novice, young or old. It’s a fantastic sport for the family, for a group of friends, as a way of networking with coworkers, or connecting with new people. After all, as Jack Lemmon said, if you think it’s hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

3 Golf is a therapeutic stress-reliever. The main point of this game is to focus on nothing but the ball and where it goes. This game can help relieve you of a busy and hectic schedule of other responsibilities, if even for just a few short hours away from work.

4 Golf is an exercise in patience and perseverance. It also helps to sharpen your coordination and focus. Follow a few tips: back straight, knees bent, feet shoulder width apart. Form a loose, but not too loose grip. Keep your head down. Know your aim. Avoid a quick backswing. Stay of out the water. Turn, don’t tilt. Try not to hit a plant, tree, pond, duck, bird, or other golfer. Don’t take extra strokes— Much patience can be learned from golf...

5 Golf helps you enjoy the great outdoors. You can take a chance to breathe in fresh air on well-kept greenery, and you can enjoy the warmth of the sun, the sight of birds soaring and singing, and the sound of other golfers cursing the next tee over. Ahh, the great outdoors.

Really, there are a myriad of reasons of why golf is the perfect sport, but you don’t need us to tell you that. Join us June 28th for the Sartell 9th Annual Golf Classic and make your own cinderella story outta nowhere.
